OADEF is its symmetric concrete base and the equation of the curve DEF is y = k(x-p)^2 + q (unit in metres), where k, p and q are constants. The height AB is 3m. E is the minimum point of the curve DEF. (a) Express in terms of k, p and q (i) the coordinates of E, (ii) the coordinates of D and F. (b) It is required to build the swimming pool so that the width is 20m, the maximum depth is 2m, and the minimum depth is 1m. (i) Find the equation of the curve DEF. (ii) Find the range of values of x such that depth of water is more than 1.5m.
